Flight

This week we will be exploring things that fly in the air, such as hot air balloons, planes, rockets, and kites. On Wednesday, two of the classes will be at the Crossroads Park working in the garden and flying some mini gliders.

Monday: Hot Air Balloons

·         Book: Sally’s Great Balloon Adventure by Stephen Huneck and Hot Air by Marjorie Priceman

·         Art: hot air balloons

·         Air pressure science (balloon and TP tube)

Tuesday: airplanes

·         Book: I Wish I Were a Pilot by Stella Blackstone

·         Art: clothespin airplanes and paper airplanes

·         Measure distance of flight from paper airplanes

Wednesday: Salouma’s and Lindsay’s Class to Crossroads Park

Thursday: Space Ships

·         Book: A Brave Spaceboy by Dana Smith

·         Art: recycled space ships, space shuttles

·         Rocket ship names

Friday: Rockets/Kites

·         Book: Berenstain Bears on the Moon by Stan Berenstain, Kite Flying by Grace Lin

·         Art: rockets with water bottles, rocket balloon

·         Air pressure science
