Firefighters!

We had an unexpected surprise at Discovery Garden on Thursday…a fire truck came to our school!! Our original plans to have a field trip at the fire station fell through, so we were beginning to make new plans for our field trip. Right in the middle of lunch, a fire truck rolls in our parking lot. We all rushed to the windows; we were curious as to what they were doing. After they parked the truck, the firemen came into Discovery. They came to see the kids!! Somehow amongst all the confusion, plans were made for the fire truck to visit us. Funny how it all worked out! The only bummer was that some of the kids missed outL

The firemen were sooo nice! They talked to the kids about fire safety, showed them their fire gear, let the kids touch their uniforms, and let the kids sit in the fire truck! It was very cool!

Lyrics to Apples Apples on the Tree

The kids did an amazing job singing the apples song.  On Monday, the preschoolers gathered together to help me come up with apple lyrics to go with the tune Twinkle, Twinkle.  We talked about words we could use for apples on the tree and words that sound similar..aka rhymes.  Then together we came up with the song.  On other days we sang the song with the xylophone and keyboard.

Apples, apples on the tree
come in many colors I see
some are red and some are yellow
some are green and in-between
apples, apples  on the tree
look so yummy for me to eat

CRUNCH  (they pretend to take a bite)

I'll try to have another mini performance on Monday and Tuesday.
