Leprechauns and more!

The leprechaun visited Discovery Garden on Friday while we were outside. He was in such a hurry and made a mess while in our school, and also left a nice surprise for the kids! What a silly little man! The kids and teachers loved it! Here are some pictures of the fun...all of my pictures of the kids were blurry because of all the movement, but this is what the leprechaun left behind! 

This is where the leprechaun entered- through the window. He left his tiny green footprints, along with a trail of gold glitter and clovers.

Here is part of the mess that the leprechaun made…he tossed things on the ground, turned chairs overs, and rummaged through the recycle bin.

The kids followed the footprints, which led to this nice surprise! Gold coins, green glow-in-the-dark bracelets, and some stickers!

We will begin to study amphibians this week. We will focus mostly on frogs this week, and will look at newts, toads, and salamanders next week. Here is something I learned while researching about amphibians: “amphibians” means 2 lives. They live and breathe in water for the first part of their lives, and live on land and breathe the air the second part of their lives.

We made these on Monday to begin our ecosystem unit. We discussed how the relationships between mountains, rivers, and oceans, and how they are connected. We also made mini terrariums that are staying at school this week, so be sure to check those out when you come in!

One of the dads at Discovery Garden is a police officer, and he came in last week during our community week to talk to the kids and show them his police car! The kids were so excited and loved it!

 We had a 100 day chocolate hunt to celebrate the 100^th day of school this year. We hid 100 chocolate kisses in the back and then had the kids go out to find them. They then had to bring them to the big heart on the table and match the number on the bottom of the chocolate to the number on the heart. The idea was to make a box of 100 chocolates. J The kids had a great time with this and we were able to find all 100 chocolates!
